How to Extract Dashcam Videos using the InstallTrack App

This guide explains how to retrieve and download video footage directly from a Viaesys dashcam using the InstallTrack app.

Important:

  • Video retrieval is only available through the InstallTrack app.

  • Only one user per account can access video retrieval.

  • If you do not see the dashcam icon in your app, contact Viaesys support to enable access.

Requirements

Before starting, ensure:

  • InstallTrack app is installed

  • You have access to the dashcam retrieval feature

  • You are near the vehicle

  • The dashcam is powered on

  • The SD card is installed in the dashcam

Step 1 — Open InstallTrack

  1. Open the InstallTrack app.

  2. Look for the Dashcam icon in the bottom-right corner.

  3. Tap the Dashcam tab.

If the icon is missing, contact Viaesys support to enable the feature.

Step 2 — Put the Dashcam into Video Retrieval Mode

  1. Locate the physical Dashcam button.

  2. Press and hold the button.

  3. Continue holding as it cycles through messages.

  4. Release when you hear:

    “Video retrieval”

The screen will show:

Ready for connection

The dashcam will now activate a local Wi-Fi hotspot.

Step 3 — Connect to the Dashcam Wi-Fi

  1. Open your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Look for a network name beginning with:

    V + numbers

    Example:

    V123456
  3. Connect to that network.

Default password:

123

If prompted that the network has no internet:

Select:

Connect anyway / Connect this time

This is normal.

Step 4 — Connect in the App

  1. Return to the InstallTrack app.

  2. Tap Connect.

The app will now display a list of all videos stored on the dashcam SD card.

You can:

  • View Front camera footage

  • View Rear camera footage (if installed)

Step 5 — Download a Video

  1. Scroll through the video list.

  2. Select the desired file.

  3. Tap Download.

The video will download using your phone’s default browser.

Example:

  • Chrome (Android)

  • Safari (iOS)

Download time may vary depending on file size.

Step 6 — Play the Video

Once downloaded:

  • Open the file from your downloads folder.

  • Play using a compatible video player.

Recommended:

VLC Media Player (Free for Android & iOS)

Note:

  • Videos are HD resolution.

  • Audio is not recorded (video only).

Step 7 — Transfer or Share the Video

After downloading, you can:

  • Export

  • Airdrop

  • Upload to Google Drive

  • Upload to Dropbox

  • Transfer to a computer via USB

⚠️ Important:
Video files are large. Cloud storage or direct computer transfer is recommended for easier handling.

Step 8 — Refresh for More Videos

Inside the app:

  • Use the Refresh button to reload the video list.

  • You can return to the previous page for additional instructions if needed.

Step 9 — Power Cycle the Dashcam (Recommended)

After completing video retrieval, it is strongly recommended to restart the dashcam.

Option 1 — Power Button

Press and hold the dashcam’s physical power button for a few seconds.

Option 2 — Ignition Reset

If wired via ignition:

  1. Turn ignition OFF

  2. Wait 10 seconds

  3. Turn ignition ON

This resets the dashcam back to normal operation mode.

Troubleshooting

Dashcam Hotspot Not Appearing

  • Ensure dashcam is powered on

  • Hold the button long enough to hear “Video retrieval”

  • Move closer to the vehicle

Cannot See Dashcam Icon in App

  • Feature not enabled

  • Contact Viaesys support

Video Not Downloading

  • Ensure you are connected to dashcam Wi-Fi

  • Confirm you selected “Connect anyway”

  • Try refreshing the list

Important Notes

  • Only one user per account can retrieve videos.

  • InstallTrack is the only supported app for video extraction.

  • Always power cycle the dashcam after retrieval.
