Before Installation
Inspect the Equipment
Before installing:
Check all wiring for damage
Inspect connectors
Confirm harness integrity
Verify SIM tray components are present
Damaged signal wires can cause connectivity or GPS issues.
Understanding the Connections
Camera Harness Connections
The camera harness includes:
4G antenna connector
GPS antenna connector
Power connector
Optional driver-facing camera connector
Optional button connector
Important:
Signal wires are delicate — handle carefully
Align connectors properly before inserting
Do not force connections
Antenna Installation
The antenna includes:
GPS connector
4G connector
Mounting guidelines:
Sticker side down
Plastic side up
Avoid heavy metal interference
Dashboard placement is ideal
In heavy equipment, route antenna outside metal-dense areas if needed.
Power Wiring
The harness contains three wires:
Black → Ground
Yellow → Constant Battery
Red → Ignition
Standard Installation (Recommended)
Most installations require:
Splice Red + Yellow together
Connect both to Ignition
Connect Black to Ground
This prevents constant battery drain.
Important:
If constant power is required, contact Viaesys support before wiring.
Fuse Recommendation
Use a:
3-amp fuse or fuse tap for ignition connection.
Installing the SIM Card
Remove SIM tray cover
Use the middle SIM size
Insert SIM with contacts facing down
Insert tray into SIM slot (not SD slot)
Important:
Do not confuse SIM and SD card slots.
Optional SD Card
SD cards are optional.
Contact Viaesys for recommended specifications if needed.
Reinstall Cover
After SIM insertion:
Replace top cover
Secure using screws
Record:
Camera serial number
SIM ICCID number
These may be required for activation.
Mounting the Dashcam in Vehicle
Wiring Routing
Route power harness to fuse box
Secure all cables with zip ties
Avoid pinched antenna wires
Pinched antenna cables are a common cause of failures.
Mounting the Antenna
If dashboard is plastic:
Mount antenna under dash panel
If heavy metal environment:
Mount antenna in area with better signal visibility
Mounting the Camera
Attach mounting plate to windshield
Lock camera into plate
Adjust viewing angle
Confirm stability
The camera should not move once mounted.
Powering the Unit
After wiring:
Turn ignition ON
Allow 2–3 minutes for boot
Observe screen indicators
Verifying Connectivity
Successful connection indicators:
4G icon visible → Cellular connected
6+ satellites → Good GPS signal
If indicators do not appear:
Check wiring
Check antenna placement
Wait additional time
Verifying Camera Feed
To confirm video:
Press DVR or Video button
Confirm both camera views display
For split units:
Verify forward camera
Verify driver camera
Final Installation Check
Before completing installation:
Camera mounted securely
Antenna connected
Wires zip-tied
Screen shows 4G
GPS satellites detected
Video feed confirmed
Adding Device to Portal
Once installation is complete:
Add dashcam to Viaesys portal
Begin system testing
Confirm data reporting
Common Installation Issues
No GPS Signal
Possible causes:
Antenna blocked by metal
Pinched antenna cable
Poor mounting location
No Cellular Connection
Check:
SIM installed correctly
Harness wiring
