When Should You Update Firmware?

Firmware updates are typically required when:

  • You receive a notification that an update is available

  • A new device is installed that requires compatibility updates

  • The device is not functioning correctly

  • The portal shows a lightning bolt icon next to the device

  • Support or your VASIS representative instructs you to update

If everything is working normally, updates are usually not necessary.

Important Requirements

The device must have an internet connection to download firmware.

You can connect using:

  • Cellular connection (if subscribed)

  • OR Wi-Fi hotspot (recommended)

Hotspot updates are especially useful if:

  • You are inside a shop

  • There is no cellular signal

  • You do not have a portal subscription

Part 1 — Creating a Mobile Hotspot

The MTS Pro expects a specific network name and password for easiest connection.

Required Hotspot Settings

  • Network Name (SSID): MTSPRO

  • Password: 12345678

  • Frequency: 2.4 GHz (if available)

  • No spaces before or after

You can rename your phone back afterward.
